Libraries ever since the first light of
civilization have proved to be a realistic value and viable platform in
promoting teaching, education and research. In the door-sill of information and
communication technologies, the libraries and information centers have changed
their services in manifold dimensions which further precipitated to a change in
knowledge acquisition, organization, dissemination, representation and
preservation. The espousal of technology precipitated many new form of learning
procedure which include, e-learning, web-based learning, digital learning,
Internet learning, On-line learning etc. Application of ICT not only revamped the
library services but also created a conducive platform for both the distance
learners and in-house learners by adding substantial e-resources to accelerate
teaching and learning. This is the upshot of the change management in learning environment
which shifted from traditional to blended and then to electronic. Strategic
changes of the libraries further not only confined to resource acquisition, organization,
management, dissemination, preservation in electronic form in the present days
of education system, rather concentrated to retain the face value of the library for sustainable
development. The diligence of artificial intelligence in the field of library
services heuristics knowledge could be identified, elicited, codified, and
formalized in the knowledge base.
